Role Description

  • We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain production-grade data pipelines and data warehouse solutions on Google Cloud Platform. You will work within a high-throughput environment orchestrating ~1,200 active DAGs, building containerized ETL/ELT workloads, and ensuring the reliable flow of data from on-premise SAP systems to our enterprise BigQuery data warehouse. This role requires strong hands-on technical expertise, a deep understanding of data engineering best practices, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including data analysts, product managers, and business intelligence teams.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and ETL/ELT/CDC workflows using Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow) and containerized execution on GKE.
  • Build and maintain data extraction processes from SAP HANA (BDP/ECP) and PostgreSQL databases into Google BigQuery.
  • Develop and manage DAGs following the organization's standardized pipeline design patterns, including tiered resource allocation, SLA monitoring, and automated failure alerting.
  • Create and maintain data models (logical and physical), denormalized views, and data marts to support business intelligence and analytics use cases.
  • Package pipeline logic into Docker containers with poetry-based entrypoints, ensuring reproducibility and CI/CD compliance.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and product managers to translate business requirements into robust, scalable data solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data platforms and pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production data pipeline issues, including resource optimization, schema errors, and data reconciliation across markets.
  • Implement and maintain data ingestion workflows using tools such as Fivetran and HVR for CDC replication.
  • Support the migration and modernization of legacy data infrastructure (e.g., Composer 2 → Composer 3, SAP HANA → BigQuery).
  • Document technical designs, data lineage, pipeline runbooks, and AMS handover artifacts for cross-functional reference.
  • Contribute to data governance practices, including data cataloging, access control, and credential management via GCP Secret Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in Python for pipeline development, scripting, and DAG authoring (Go is a plus).
  • Strong SQL skills with experience writing complex analytical queries across large-scale datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP):
  • BigQuery for large-scale analytical workloads and data warehousing.
  • Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow) for orchestrating complex data pipelines.
  • GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) for containerized workload execution.
  • Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) for transactional database management.
  • Experience building and maintaining Docker containers for pipeline microservices.
  • Solid grasp of data modeling fundamentals, including Kimball methodology and denormalized views.
  • Familiarity with CDC (Change Data Capture) concepts and tools (e.g., Fivetran, HVR).
  • Strong version-control habits (Git) and experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working with enterprise ERP systems, particularly SAP HANA as a data source.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a production-critical environment.
  • English : communication level
