JOB DESCRIPTION
Backend Developer (Golang)
I. COMPANY OVERVIEW
Unity Sport is a High-Performance Sports Tech Hub. We don't just build apps; we architect the backbone of real-time sports intelligence.
While our name suggests harmony, our tech stack deals with the intensity of millions of concurrent connections and sub-second data delivery. We specialize in processing massive streams of global sports data where every millisecond counts.
Our mission is to solve the ultimate engineering challenge: delivering "The Moment" to millions of fans worldwide, exactly when it happens—whether it is a match-winning goal in Football or a decisive spike in Volleyball.
II. JOB OBJECTIVES
Build and scale backend services primarily in Golang for realtime API workloads.
Ensure ultra-fast time-to-first-byte (TTFB), resilient caching, efficient database offload, and stable high-concurrency performance (target: 3M MAU / 1M CCU in future scaling stages).
III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and optimize high-concurrency backend services and APIs in Golang.
• Refactor CPU-blocking or heavy I/O logic to keep the event loop (and your brain) healthy.
• Improve performance observability and error handling: integrate Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, and our internal APM stack.
• Work with DevOps on Kubernetes (GKE or on-prem clusters), autoscaling (CPU/Memory or HPA), and caching strategy support.
• Design or extend caching patterns (e.g., cache-aside, stale-while-revalidate) with Redis or similar realtime-support backing stores.
• Build performance test suites and scripts: k6, Locust, Artillery, or whatever doesn't set your laptop on fire.
IV. REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Must-Have Skills
✔ Experience: 2 - 3 years
✔ Backend service engineering: advanced proficiency with Golang.
✔ API & performance optimization experience under high concurrency.
✔ Caching experience: Redis, NGINX reverse proxy caching, CDN rules.
✔ Database tuning: indexing & slow query profiling (MySQL/ PostgreSQL).
✔ DevOps collaboration mindset (infra, autoscale, monitoring).
Nice-To-Have
• Kubernetes experience (GKE or on-prem)
• Experience building internal API or caching architecture proposals
• Sports domain curiosity (football, basketball, tennis, etc.)
• Ability to take ownership of features and lead technical direction as platform scales
