DevOps Engineer (On-prem)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and operate on-premises infrastructure (bare-metal, virtualization, private cloud)
• Build and manage self-deployed Kubernetes on-prem — no managed cloud (EKS/GKE/AKS)
• Automate provisioning and configuration with Terraform + Ansible (Infrastructure as Code)
• Set up and maintain internal CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD)
• Own monitoring, logging, and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK)
• Manage storage (Ceph, LVM, RAID, NFS/iSCSI) and networking (VLAN, firewall, load balancing)
• Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and high availability across systems.
• Troubleshoot issues across OS, network, storage, and application layers.
• Build and maintain a lab environment for R&D, PoC, and testing before production.
• Write technical documentation, runbooks, and standardize operational processes.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of software development experience.
• Has 3–5 years in DevOps/SysAdmin with a strong on-premises focus.
• Is deeply proficient in Linux administration (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu)
• Has hands-on experience with on-prem virtualization (VMware vSphere / Proxmox / KVM)
• Can deploy and operate Kubernetes on-prem (kubeadm / RKE2 / k3s) without managed cloud.
• Is skilled in Terraform + Ansible for automation.
• Has solid networking (TCP/IP, VLAN, routing, firewall) and storage (Ceph, LVM, RAID) fundamentals.
• Write clean scripts in Bash and Python.
• Runs a personal homelab and loves building, breaking, and rebuilding infra hands-on
• Bonus: RHCE, CKA/CKS, VCP; GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux); security hardening (CIS benchmark)
