REQUIREMENTS

1. Embedded Firmware Engineering

  • Programming Skills: Proficient in C/C++ specifically optimized for resource-constrained embedded systems.
  • Microcontrollers (MCUs): Hands-on experience with popular architectures such as ESP32, STM32, Nordic nRF, AVR, or PIC.
  • Hardware Peripherals: Strong command of configuring and interfacing low-level peripherals:
  • Communication Protocols: UART, SPI, I2C.
  • Core Peripherals: GPIO, ADC, PWM, Timers, and Interrupts.
  • Documentation Literacy: Ability to efficiently read, interpret, and extract technical details from MCU datasheets, reference manuals, and pinout tables.
  • Development Workflow: Solid experience with standard firmware workflows, including building, flashing, logging, and hardware-in-the-loop debugging.
  • System Optimization: Deep understanding of real-time embedded constraints, including memory footprint management, timing behavior, and low-power modes.
  • Wireless Connectivity (Preferred): Familiarity with at least one wireless stack is a strong plus:
  • Short-range/Mesh: BLE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Matter.
  • Long-range: LoRa.
  • Version Control: Basic proficiency with Git/GitHub (branching, pull requests, resolving merge conflicts, and versioning best practices).

2. Hardware & PCB Design

  • Circuit Theory & Schematics: Strong foundational knowledge of electronics. Proven ability to analyze complex electronic circuit schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Component Selection: Deep understanding of active and passive components, including resistors, capacitors (decoupling), diodes, transistors/MOSFETs, voltage regulators, crystals, connectors, sensors, and battery charging circuits.
  • Hardware Fundamentals: Solid grasp of voltage levels, logic thresholds, pull-up/pull-down configurations, signal integrity basics, grounding topologies, and power distribution networks (PDN).
  • ECAD Tools: Familiarity with at least one major PCB design software: KiCad, EasyEDA, Altium Designer, or Proteus.
  • PCB Design Principles: Basic understanding of layout best practices:
  • Component placement strategy and connector orientation.
  • Power routing vs. signal routing isolation.
  • Proper placement of decoupling capacitors and ground planes.
  • Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Testing (DFT).

3. Prototyping, Bring-up & Lab Tools

  • Prototyping Skills: Practical experience in circuit prototyping, breadboarding, manual soldering (THT/SMD), wiring, and mechanical assembly of hardware prototypes.
  • Lab Equipment Proficiency: Competency in using electronic diagnostic and measurement tools for hardware validation and debugging:
  • Digital Multimeter (DMM) & Oscilloscope.
  • Logic Analyzer & Programmable DC Power Supply.
  • Soldering Station / Hot Air Rework Station.
