[HCM - Hybird] Backend Developer (Ruby on Rails)

Full Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Ruby on Rails Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable backend systems that handle large volumes of data and integrate with multiple external services. This role focuses on developing high-quality applications, optimizing system performance, and contributing to a reliable and maintainable engineering environment.

You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to build customer-facing features and backend services while ensuring high standards of code quality, security, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Design and develop scalable Ruby on Rails applications and backend services capable of handling large volumes of data.
• Design and optimize database schemas based on functional and non-functional requirements.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Continuously improve the codebase through refactoring and technical debt reduction.
• Develop and maintain integrations with external APIs and third-party systems.
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve production incidents.
• Optimize database queries, application performance, and overall system efficiency.
• Implement automated testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features and improvements on time.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and development workflow improvements.
• Ensure application security by following secure coding practices and addressing vulnerabilities proactively.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and frameworks related to Kotlin and Spring Boot.

Required Skill-set

• 3–5 years of professional experience developing applications with Ruby on Rails.
• Strong understanding of SOLID principles, common design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Solid experience with MySQL, including database design, performance tuning, and query optimization.
• Experience designing and developing systems with complex architecture and external API integrations.
• Experience with application performance monitoring, profiling, and optimization.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks, integration testing, and end-to-end testing.
• Strong knowledge of web application security, authentication, authorization, and common security vulnerabilities.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based development environments.
• Good English communication skills and ability to collaborate in a global engineering environment. Good to have Skill-set
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and related technologies (e.g., Spring Cloud).
• Experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Apache Kafka.
• Basic understanding of frontend frameworks like Next.js
