Hybrid Full-stack Developer

Project Description: You will work on AI-driven knowledge discovery systems that explore, search, and synthesize information from structured and unstructured data across millions of websites. We build:

• Vertical search engines
• Community knowledge services

You will collaborate with:

• Professor Kevin Chang (CS @ UIUC)
• Senior engineers at Cazoodle, Hanoi
• Senior graduate students at UIUC

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (1 day per week in office)

Responsibilities

• Develop new frontend features and continuously improve the existing frontend architecture, including reusable components, state management, code quality, code review practices, and frontend testing.
• Design and implement UI/UX for SaaS Products including Research Officers Working tools, Research Intelligence.
• Build responsive, accessible, and performant interfaces across desktop and mobile, including SEO-friendly rendering for content-heavy pages.
• Develop and maintain backend APIs in Python (e.g., FastAPI/Django/Flask) that serve the frontend, and integrate them with AI services and databases (PostgreSQL).
• Collaborate closely with AI engineers, product reviewers, and stakeholders to turn feature ideas and bug reports into polished, production-ready user experiences.
• Proactively research current advancements in technology and AI, and suggest/recommend useful features that can be applied to our products.

Requirements

• From 2+ years of experience in fullstack or frontend development (junior–mid level).
• Good communication skills in English.
• Deep knowledge of modern frontend development.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern framework (React/Vite/Next.js or similar).
• Solid understanding of HTML/CSS, responsive design, component-based architecture, and state management.
• Ability to structure and refactor a frontend codebase for long-term maintainability, not just make it work.
• Strong sense of UI/UX design: layout, typography, spacing, interaction patterns, and the ability to design or refine interfaces from rough requirements (experience with Figma or similar tools is preferred).
• Working knowledge of Python backend development: building REST APIs, working with relational databases (PostgreSQL), and authentication flows (e.g., OAuth/Google Sign-in, passwordless login).
• Experience with frontend testing, debugging, and performance optimization; understanding of web SEO and web standards fundamentals is a plus.
