Job Title: Backend Engineer (Java – Payment Systems)

2. About the Role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to develop and maintain backend services for our

payment platform. You will collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and

architects to build secure and scalable payment solutions.

3. Key Responsibilities

Development

● Design, develop, and maintain robust RESTful APIs and backend services using Java

and Spring Boot, Spring Reactive, R2DBC.

● Experience with Redis for caching, session management, or pub/sub messaging

patterns.

● Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code following best practices and design

patterns.

● Implement features for payment processing, reconciliation, reporting and documentation

for your services.

● Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, bugs, and production issues in a timely

manner.● Leverage AI-assisted development tools (claude/cursor) to support pair programming,

code reviews, and knowledge sharing within the team.

System Integration

● Integrate with payment gateways (MoMo, VNPAY, Stripe, etc.) via APIs.

● Work with messaging systems like Kafka/RabbitMQ (basic level).

Database

● Work with PostgreSQL/MySQL for storing transaction data.

● Optimize queries and ensure data consistency.

Security

● Follow best practices for API security (JWT, OAuth2).

● Support implementation of secure payment flows.

Testing & Quality

● Write unit and integration tests (JUnit, Mockito)..

Monitoring & Support

● Support troubleshooting and monitoring using tools like ELK/Grafana.

4. Requirements

MUST TO HAVE

● 4 years + of backend development experience with Java.

● Actively adopt AI-assisted development tools (claude, cursor) to improve engineering

efficiency, code quality, and time-to-delivery.

● Strong proficiency in Java (Java 11+ preferred) and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot,

Spring Reactive, Spring Data).

● Solid understanding of microservices architecture.● Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and writing

optimized SQL queries.

● Understanding of API security and authentication/authorization.

● Understanding of software development best practices: SOLID principles, design

patterns, and clean code

● Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Nice to Have

● Experience with payment systems or fintech.

● Solid understanding of various communication protocols including HTTP/HTTPS,

WebSocket, and gRPC, and ability to select the right protocol for the right use case.

● Experience with NoSQL databases (Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch).

● Familiarity with Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.

● Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Docker, Gitlab CI, K8s.

● Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and managed services.
