Job Description

The Lead Engineer, Product serves as the primary product representative for Vietnam manufacturing operations, acting as the local technical and commercial interface between customers, factory operations, and the Global Product Management organization.

Working closely with U.S.-based Product Managers, this role is responsible for executing product strategies locally by coordinating customer activities, supporting manufacturing operations, driving product execution, and ensuring outstanding customer responsiveness across multiple business units, product lines, and manufacturing sites in Vietnam.

This position requires extensive collaboration with customers, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, Program Management, and R&D to ensure alignment between customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and business priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary customer-facing product representative for Vietnam manufacturing operations, supporting customer technical discussions, quality audits, executive visits, manufacturing tours, qualification activities, and business reviews.
  • Build strong relationships with customer engineering, quality, sourcing, procurement, and manufacturing organizations while providing timely technical and commercial support in coordination with Global Product Managers.
  • Act as the local extension of the Global Product Management organization by executing product strategies, coordinating customer requirements, and supporting multiple business units, product lines, and manufacturing sites across Vietnam.
  • Coordinate product transfers with Operations following the Coherent Technology Transfer Process, and support the implementation of new products, engineering changes, product lifecycle activities, and change management.
  • Ensure alignment between customer expectations and factory execution by coordinating cross-functional teams, tracking manufacturing performance, customer feedback, product execution status, and escalating risks appropriately.
  • Partner with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality to support production performance, improve quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction, and ensure factory readiness for new product introductions and customer qualifications.
  • Participate in root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives to resolve manufacturing and customer issues while enhancing factory execution and operational efficiency.
  • Collect and analyze product performance metrics, manufacturing data, customer feedback, and operational insights to support forecasting, demand planning, business reviews, and Product Management decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer responsiveness, cross-functional collaboration, factory execution, and standardization of best practices across Vietnam manufacturing sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science; Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related technical disciplines are preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Technical Program Management, Product Management Support, or other related technical roles.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor, photonics, electronics, precision manufacturing, or advanced materials products is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a global manufacturing environment with cross-functional and international collaboration.
  • Customer-facing experience with the ability to communicate confidently with engineers, quality teams, sourcing organizations, auditors, and executive leadership.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand complex products, manufacturing processes, and customer requirements.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams without direct authority while managing multiple products and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with ERP, PLM, Microsoft Office, and data analysis tools is preferred.
  • Good English communication skills with willingness to travel domestically within Vietnam and occasionally internationally (approximately 15–25%).
