Practice Engineer - Architecture & tooling

ABOUT THE JOB

The Practice Engineer plays a key role in driving engineering excellence and improving developer experience across the organisation. Leveraging strong software engineering expertise, this role partners with engineers, architects, and platform teams to enhance development practices, developer tooling, and engineering standards.

The role supports the adoption of modern engineering approaches, including source control management, automation, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development, helping teams improve quality, efficiency, and delivery outcomes. The Practice Engineer also champions continuous improvement, technical innovation, and collaboration across globally distributed teams.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential Capabilities

• Strong software engineering background with hands-on application development experience.
• Proven experience working with source control and code repository management tools (e.g. Git).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a strong command of English.
• Ability to present technical concepts and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across distributed and cross-functional teams.
• Strong attention to engineering quality, best practices, and continuous improvement.

Desirable Capabilities

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, internal engineering platforms, or developer productivity tooling.
• Exposure to AI-enabled engineering practices and automation solutions.
• Experience with ServiceNow or similar enterprise workflow platforms.
• Understanding of modern software delivery practices, DevOps, and Agile ways of working.

Experience

• Proven experience in software engineering, application development, or platform engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC), coding, testing, and deployment practices.
• Experience working with Git-based repositories and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience contributing to engineering standards, technical governance, or developer enablement initiatives.
• Exposure to enterprise-scale technology environments and engineering practices.
• Experience presenting technical solutions, architecture concepts, or engineering approaches to stakeholders.
