About the Role

Based in Northern Vietnam, the Product Engineer, Softgoods will serve as the primary technical liaison between the company's US-based Design Engineering team and its contract manufacturing partners across Asia.

You will evaluate vendor-developed samples and ensure they meet engineering specifications, material requirements, construction details, quality standards, safety requirements, and production timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate softgoods samples for compliance with specifications, materials, construction, workmanship, safety, and quality standards.
• Assess textiles, sewn construction, product performance, and manufacturability.
• Partner with US engineering teams and Asian manufacturers to resolve technical and production issues.
• Identify root causes and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Recommend design, construction, and process improvements.
• Assess supplier capabilities and production readiness.
• Prepare sample evaluations, engineering reports, and technical documentation.
• Travel across Asia to support suppliers, product development, and manufacturing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, textiles, product development, or a related field.
• At least five years of relevant softgoods engineering, product development, or manufacturing experience.
• Strong knowledge of textiles, sewn-product construction, plush products, and softgoods manufacturing.
• Ability to evaluate samples, interpret specifications, and troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
• Professional proficiency in English and Vietnamese or Chinese.
• Willingness to be based in Northern Vietnam and travel regularly across Asia.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with contract manufacturers in Vietnam or elsewhere in Asia.
• Experience in supplier development or technical supplier management.
• Knowledge of product testing and children's product safety requirements.
