JOB DESCRIPTION
About Movel AI
Movel AI focuses on making robot deployment and operation simple and efficient for hardware companies and end users. The company’s solutions reduce deployment time and cost, enabling rapid setup and minimal training. With an intuitive interface, Movel AI allows organisations to deploy, control, and coordinate single robots or entire fleets across industries such as logistics, manufacturing, construction, and healthcare. Acting as a strategic partner rather than just a software provider, Movel AI streamlines the full robotics deployment lifecycle. The team is committed to helping organisations achieve seamless robot deployment, reduced costs, and maximised operational efficiency.
The Role
You are the person on the floor when an automation project stops being a diagram and becomes a working system. You will survey customer sites, install and commission the full solution- robots, sensors, charging and docking infrastructure, network, and the integrations that connect it to the customer's operation- then tune it until it runs reliably in production and stay on as the technical owner of the account.
This is not a helpdesk role, and it is not software-only. You will be hands-on with hardware in live industrial environments.
What you’ll do
Deploy
Run pre-deployment site surveys: floor conditions, traffic, network coverage, charging locations, safety zones, and turn them into a deployment plan
Install and commission the physical solution on site: robot assembly and sensor mounting, charging and docking stations, edge/server hardware, network setup
Integrate with the customer's environment, WMS/MES/ERP handoffs, lifts, doors, conveyors, PLCs and I/O, fleet and traffic management
Commission the software layer: mapping, localisation, navigation tuning, and acceptance testing against the customer's real operating conditions
Tune and support
Configure and tune robot stacks, transforms, odometry, sensor calibration, footprint, navigation plugins, node graphs, recovery behaviours
Diagnose field failures across the whole stack: software, sensors, wiring, network, mechanical, from logs, bag files and live debugging, through to root cause
Own customer issues end to end: triage, reproduce, resolve, and escalate to engineering with a clear technical write-up when the fix belongs upstream
Hand over and improve
Produce commissioning documentation, acceptance reports and site-specific runbooks
Train customer engineers and operators so the site can run without us
Feed field learnings back into the product; the bugs you file and the workarounds you document shape the roadmap
2+ years deploying or supporting real robots in the field, not simulation only
Strong Python or C++, and comfort living in Linux (systemd, networking, SSH, log wrangling)
Hands-on ROS1 / ROS2 experience: navigation stack, TF, sensor drivers, debugging with rosbag/rviz
Genuinely hands-on with hardware: mounting and aligning sensors, reading wiring and mechanical drawings, using a multimeter, tracing a fault from software symptom to loose connector
Ability to debug a system you did not fully build, at a customer site, under time pressure
Willing to travel and work on customer sites, sometimes at short notice and for extended stints
Professional English; Mandarin is a strong plus
Industrial integration experience: Modbus/TCP, digital I/O, PLCs, lift and door interfaces, WMS or MES connections
Familiarity with industrial safety practice around AMRs (safety scanners, e-stops, risk assessment, relevant standards)
Networking beyond the basics, industrial WiFi surveys, roaming, VLANs
Docker and CI exposure
Prior customer-facing or field engineering experience
You own deployments end to end, survey to handover, rather than one slice of them
Travel to customer sites across Asia
Small team: your fixes ship, and you see them running in production within weeks
Send your CV to careers@movel.ai with a short note on one robot or automation system you deployed or debugged in the field, and what went wrong. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
