Senior Backend Developer (Java/Go/NodeJS)

Job Summary

As a Backend Engineer within the Platform teams, you will design, build, and operate highly scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant AI-first E-Commerce and Digital Experience solutions that power Sun Group’s diverse ecosystem.

You will work on distributed systems serving millions of users and millions of transactions per month, addressing complex real-world scenarios across travel, hospitality, real estate, aviation, and entertainment. Our platforms integrate with world-class core systems and are natively enhanced by state-of-the-art AI technologies.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with your product development team and partners to elevate Sun Group’s services and contribute to Vietnam’s broader digital transformation.

Responsibilities

- Design and operate microservices and event-driven components (Kafka/RabbitMQ) with strong observability (metrics, logs, traces), SLOs, and graceful degradation.

- Build idempotent, secure REST/gRPC APIs for platform services; handle retries, backoff, saga/outbox patterns, and data consistency.

- Integrate with payment gateways, third-party partners and Sun Group’s internal platforms securely via OAuth2/OIDC/JWT, API Gateway, and proper rate-limiting.

- Apply Agile and DevOps practices; CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring; to deliver high-quality code at speed.

- Contribute to technical design discussions, architecture improvements, and engineering best practices.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics/Telecom, or related fields.

- 4+ years backend development on Linux; solid in at least one of Java/Go/NodeJS

- Proven experience designing high-volume transactional services (throughput, latency, scalability, caching with Redis).

- Hands-on with RDBMS (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis); schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.

- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD; automated testing and observability.

- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and familiarity with WebSocket or gRPC is a strong plus.

- Exposure to cloud platforms such asAzure, AWS, or GCP is an advantage. Experience with Kafka, API Gateway, service mesh is a plus.
