JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose

The Solution Architect Workplace & Collaborationis responsible for designing and delivering modern, secure, and user-centricworkplace and collaboration solutions, with Microsoft 365 and the broaderMicrosoft ecosystem as the core platform. This role defines architecturalstandards and designs that enable productivity, seamless communication, anddigital employee experiences. The architect ensures alignment between businessneeds, end-user requirements, and the capabilities, driving adoption and continuousimprovement.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Platform and Solution Design and Strategy

  • Develop and maintain the organization's workplace andcollaboration architecture and solution design, ensuring support for currentand future business needs.
  • Define platform standards, best practices, andguidelines for workplace and collaboration tools.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand businessrequirements and translate them into effective workplace and collaborationsolutions.
  • Create detailed solution designs, consideringarchitecture principles, scalability, security, and performance.

2. Technology Evaluation

  • Stay updated with emerging workplace and collaborationtechnologies and industry trends.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies and tools thatenhance workplace and collaboration solution effectiveness.

3. Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance todevelopment teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure that technical designs align with establishedarchitecture standards for workplace and collaboration solutions.

4. Integration and Compatibility

  • Ensure that workplace and collaboration solutionsintegrate seamlessly with existing systems and applications.
  • Verify the compatibility of proposed solutions withhardware, software, and network environments.

5. Security and Compliance

  • Incorporate security best practices into workplace andcollaboration solution designs.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and regulatoryrequirements.

6. Documentation and Communication

  • Document technical designs, architecture decisions,and implementation guidelines for workplace and collaboration solutions.
  • Communicate solution designs effectively to bothtechnical and non-technical stakeholders.

7. Quality Assurance

  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to definetesting strategies and validate workplace and collaboration solutionfunctionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as theyarise during implementation.

8. Technical Direction and Coordination

  • Help define the technical direction for workplace andcollaboration solutions and coordinate across product teams to ensure thatevery team has defined architecture patterns.

9. Requirements Transformation

  • Transform requirements into specific workplace andcollaboration solution architecture design documents.

10. ArchitecturalGovernance

  • Govern the technical design against approvedarchitectural standards and make final decisions on any technology changes orexceptions to architectural standards.

11. BusinessAlignment and Integration

  • Understand business processes and requirements,ensuring the workplace and collaboration platform aligns with business goals.
  • Integrate various business functions into a cohesiveworkplace and collaboration system.

12. Scalability,Reliability, and Adaptability

  • Ensure that the workplace and collaboration platformis scalable, reliable, and adaptable to changing business needs, whilemaintaining data integrity and security.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across differentdepartments to facilitate smooth system deployment and continuous improvement.

Quantitative KPIs:

  • Number of workplace and collaboration solution designsdelivered within project timelines.

Qualitative KPIs:

  • Alignment of workplace and collaboration solutionswith business objectives.
  • Scalability and capacity of workplace andcollaboration solutions to serve future business needs.
  • Effectiveness of technical leadership and guidance.
  • Feedback from cross-functional teams on quality andperformance of workplace and collaboration solutions designed.

  • IT infrastructure and security teams
  • End-user computing and support teams
  • HR, communications, and business department lead

External Relationships:

  • Microsoft account and service teams
  • Workplace technology vendors and integrators
  • Industry forums and Microsoft partner ecosystem

Education/Training Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relatedfield.
  • Relevant certifications in solution architecture.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, ComputerScience, or related field.
  • Microsoft 365 certifications (MS-100, MS-700, MS-102)highly desirable.
  • TOGAF, ITIL, or Agile certifications preferred.

Experience:

  • 5–8 years of experience in solution architecture, witha focus on workplace and collaboration technologies.
  • Proven experience designing and deploying Microsoft365-based environments.
  • Strong background in user experience, IT servicemanagement, and change management within a digital workplace context.
