Staff Software Engineer (C#/.NET & React/TypeScript)

You'll work in an international team that pairs German software quality and Vietnamese speed to innovate.

You don't just want to implement features - you want to help modernize and evolve one of the largest ERP systems in the German-speaking e-commerce market. As a Staff Fullstack Engineer at JTL, you work across the entire stack - from backend services and APIs to modern React frontends - on a large-scale software platform that is currently undergoing a major transformation towards modular architectures, modern APIs, and cloud-ready services.

We are looking for engineers who understand that software development is more than writing code. You value ownership, maintainability, and quality, and you enjoy making thoughtful technical decisions across both backend and frontend in complex systems. As a Staff-level engineer, you set technical direction across the stack, raise the engineering bar, and act as a technical multiplier for the team - without formal people-management responsibility.

At JTL, AI-assisted development is not a nice extra - it is a core part of how we work. Our engineers use tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and similar AI assistants every day. We expect you to either bring hands-on experience with these tools or demonstrate a clear, verifiable willingness to actively use them.

YOUR EXCITING TASKS

• You set technical direction across the stack and raise the bar for architecture, code quality, and engineering practices as a hands-on technical leader.
• You develop and maintain backend services and business logic using modern .NET technologies and NodeJS (TypeScript).
• You build modern, component-based frontends with React and TypeScript.
• You design, implement, and evolve REST and GraphQL APIs and integrate them cleanly on the frontend.
• You contribute to the modernization of a large existing platform and help shape its future architecture across the stack.
• You analyze and improve existing code, data structures, and technical workflows.
• You help ensure a high-performance and scalable development experience using modern toolchains (Vite, Turborepo, pnpm).
• You implement automated tests on both backend and frontend and help establish sustainable quality practices.
• You participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions and design decisions.
• You collaborate closely with quality engineers, architects, and product managers.
• You identify technical risks, challenge assumptions, and contribute to continuous improvement.
  
  

YOUR PROFILE AND YOUR PERSONALITY

• Extensive professional experience in fullstack development, operating at a senior or staff level with broad technical influence.
• Solid experience in backend development using C# &.NET as well as NodeJS & TypeScript.
• Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern build tools (Vite, Turborepo).
• Experience working with relational databases, ideally Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience working with NoSQL databases like Azure Cosmos DB
• Experience designing and integrating APIs (REST and/or GraphQL), including data fetching on the frontend (e.g., TanStack Query).
• Experience with design systems and component-based development (Storybook, TailwindCSS).
• Strong understanding of software design, maintainability, and clean code principles.
• Ability to understand and navigate complex existing systems.
• Experience with automated testing and quality-focused practices (e.g., Jest, Playwright).
• Confident in using Git and collaborative workflows (pull requests, code reviews).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Infrastructure know-how in Azure and operational readiness: willingness to share responsibility for reliable operation, including participation in an on-call rotation with a defined reaction time.
• Node.js: working knowledge of the Node.js runtime and ecosystem, used across our TypeScript services and frontend build tooling.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools or a clear willingness to adopt them.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
