Role Summary:
We are seeking a Structural Engineer with a strong foundation in structural/civil engineering and capability in parametric design, automation, and AI-driven workflows to join a growing structural and civil engineering consultancy. This is a hybrid role sitting at the intersection of structural engineering and technology - helping the team build, implement, and maintain automated workflows that streamline how structural project data moves through the business. The ideal candidate has a genuine structural engineering foundation, foundational coding ability, and is excited to shape how AI and automation get applied to real engineering projects.
Working Location:
Home-based setup (Remote, Vietnam)
Work Schedule:
Standard business hours (AEST)
Key Responsibilities:
-
Support structural engineers in parametric modelling and computational design using tools such as Grasshopper, Dynamo, or similar
-
Collaborate on scripts and internal tools (Python, C#, JavaScript, or similar) that help engineers develop structural designs more quickly and consistently
-
Structure and manage engineering data (loads, materials, sections, calculations) within parametric workflows to ensure consistency, traceability, and reusability
-
Map, refine, and document engineering workflows, identifying opportunities for automation and quality control
-
Set up systems so incoming structural project data is captured, transformed, and routed correctly into internal tools and calculation workflows
-
Assist in the development and integration of AI tools that support structural engineering workflows (e.g., data intake, preliminary design checks, documentation)
-
Provide day-to-day support to engineers using these workflows, troubleshooting issues and improving reliability
-
Assist with early-stage project correspondence and information gathering, helping standardise and partially automate initial structural data capture
-
Collaborate with structural engineering, operations, and leadership to translate engineering needs into technical automation solutions
-
Contribute to documentation and training materials so engineers can effectively use new tools and workflows
Must-Have:
-
Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering (structural emphasis), or closely related field
-
3-5+ years of relevant experience
-
Foundational coding/scripting skills (Python, C#, JavaScript, or similar)
-
Ability to communicate with structural engineers and translate workflows into automation
Nice-to-Have:
-
Experience in building, infrastructure, or AEC environments
-
Familiarity with parametric/computational design tools (Grasshopper, Dynamo, or similar)
-
Experience building internal tools or scripts for structural teams
-
Experience with AI tools/platforms (LLMs, APIs, related frameworks)
-
Background structuring and managing engineering data (models, load cases, parameters, calculations)
