Job description
ABOUT THE TEAM:
CodeIT AS is a leader in innovative labelling, marking, and traceability solutions, empowering manufacturers globally to enhance automation, improve data monitoring, and achieve cost efficiencies through our versatile CodeIT Enterprise™ platform.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Quality Control (QC) Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality of our solutions through both manual and automated testing. The role will initially focus primarily on manual testing, covering System, Integration, Performance, Load, Smoke, and Regression testing, as well as specialized cases where automation is not applicable. As the product matures and there are sufficient test cases to automate, the role will gradually transition towards test automation to drive efficiency, consistency, and scalability. Working in an international environment, you will collaborate closely with developers, project managers, and customers to deliver high-quality products built with NodeJS/React, ASP.NET, and Windows Forms applications.
In 2026 we are running an AI-first quality practice. We expect you to actively use AI assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) to design test cases faster, write and maintain automation scripts, analyse logs and failures, and understand unfamiliar parts of the product. AI accelerates the work — you still own the quality judgement.
Your skills and experience
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manual Testing – Initial Focus:
- Design, execute, and document comprehensive manual test cases based on system specifications, user stories, and requirements.
- Perform various types of testing, including System, Integration, Performance, Load, Smoke, and Regression tests.
- Identify, document, and track defects to resolution using tools like Azure DevOps.
- Collaborate with developers to reproduce and resolve issues, ensuring product quality.
- Create detailed test plans, test designs, and test result reports for stakeholders.
- Automation Testing – Gradual Transition:
As the product and test coverage mature, you will gradually transition from manual testing to automation, identifying and automating suitable test scenarios to improve testing efficiency, consistency, and scalability:
- Automate select manual test cases using tools like Telerik Test Studio, Playwright, or similar to enhance testing efficiency.
- Maintain and execute automated test scripts and environments.
- Integrate automated tests into existing workflows, with support for CI/CD pipelines as needed.
- Participate in Scrum processes (e.g., sprint planning, daily stand-ups) to align testing with project goals.
- Summarize and report test results to team leaders and management.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a QA/QC Engineer, with strong expertise in manual testing of Windows and Web applications.
- Practical experience in automation testing, with hands-on knowledge of tools such as Telerik Test Studio, Playwright, or equivalent (basic to intermediate proficiency acceptable).
- Experience using bug tracking tools and test case management systems, preferably Azure DevOps.
- Proficiency in working with relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server; optionally MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle).
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and Scrum practices.
- Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented, self-disciplined, and proactive approach to work.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English (preferable TOEIC 650+ or equivalent certificate is a plus).
- Hands-on daily use of AI coding/testing assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar), with the ability to think critically about AI output — explaining where AI helped, where it was wrong, and how you caught it.
- Comfortable being hands-on with code — reading C#/JS/TS, writing scripts with AI support, and working in a repository with Git and pull requests.
PREFERRED SKILLS (PLUS):
- Experience with basic automation scripting (JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines, Jenkins).
- Knowledge of industrial production or traceability systems (labelling, marking processes).
- Previous experience working within European companies or multicultural environments.
- Scrum or Agile certification, or ISTQB Foundation Level certification.
- Experience with API testing (Postman, REST-assured, Playwright API testing).
- Experience using AI tools in a testing workflow — e.g. drafting test cases from user stories, AI-assisted repair of automation scripts when the UI changes, AI-generated test data, or using AI to analyse logs and narrow down root cause.
We offer an engaging and friendly international working environment with challenging, production-critical projects where you can significantly impact product quality through innovation and automation. You will collaborate directly with our Norwegian team and customers, receive AI tooling (paid subscriptions to Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) plus time to learn it properly, and take real ownership of the quality practice for an industrial traceability platform.
